Relay for Life Recap!-March 14th, 2016

3/14/16

One of the reasons I relay is to find a cure. After have doing Relay for Life all four years of my high school career, I knew it would be different without doing it for another year. Once again, Relay for Life is an organization supports the American Cancer Society to raise money to cancer research, patient support, prevention info/education, and detection and treatment. This year’s PSA fundraising was a big success! PSA raised $1,328. Throughout the 12 hour night, many PSA members celebrated by forming bonds by playing taboo and cards, volleyball, or even by jamming together. One of the main highlight of the night was the Luminary Ceremony, which is known to be the most memorable part of this event. This ceremony is a way to honor survivors and those who have lost their lives to cancer. During this time, we walked in silence around the track arm in arm, or hand in hand, together reflecting of our loved ones who are or have gone through the battle. The Luminary Ceremony always ends with a feeling of inspiration and hope when walking together with close friends and family. To wrap it all up, HUGE thanks to PSA and all the wonderful donors who made it out to Relay!
